UNKNOT is the duo consisting of producer/dj Sciahri and composer/audiohead Emanuele
Porcinai.
The core of UNKNOT’s sound is strictly bound both to Sciahri’s solid techno background and to the mutable character of Emanuele’s electroacoustic productions. The dialogue between such distant practices and approaches, brought to an extremely restrained setup, is what defines UNKNOT’s musical identity.

Wind-blasted, hyperborean techno that wouldn't so much slay a dance floor as festoon it with icicles. For one so prolific, Varg seldom makes a misstep and this could be his best yet.

Maybe it's the proximity to the Arctic Circle of the studio in which it was recorded that makes the ambience of this EP so austere and unforgiving. Or it could simply be that Lundin Oil enjoys lacerating eardrums. Either way, North Gate sounds less like techno than it does the result of placing contact mics on the noisiest parts of a gigantic steam turbine. Hostile isn't the word.
